Adam's Peak is the 2nd highest and holiest mountain in Sri Lanka. There are two paths leading up to the summit. You can climb it on foot from Nallathanniya. 2,243 meters high, on the summit there is a monastery and Buddha's footprint.
There are around 1000 meters of altitude and around 5,500 very uneven steps to overcome. There are several options for stocking up on drinks or food along the way.
Most pilgrims start their climb at 2 a.m. to be at the top for sunrise. During the rainy season, please note that the risk of rain increases early in the afternoon. In addition, there is hardly any protection from the sun while on the move.
