Due to its location on the Hammerfliess, which is called Mühlenfliess here, and the presence of bog iron ore in the surrounding fields, Scharfenbrück is closely related to the iron production of the past, the center of which was in Gottow. Since 1642 there has been a water-powered hammer mill for crushing the ore, which later became a grinding and cutting mill. In 1642, the iron hammer became a hereditary fief and also owned a grinding and cutting mill. The bog iron ore found in the area is processed. Sheep farming was typical for the village and estate at the time. As a result of an inheritance, damask weavers were settled from 1771. A number of windmills and watermills were also in operation in and around the site. Until 1916 the place was churched in Luckenwalde, then in Woltersdorf. Scharfenbrück once owned a manor house with a farm and park. Some outbuildings and the park are still preserved today. Until 1945, the place had changing landowners, of which the philanthropist and factory owner Christian Gottfried Fähndrich, the writer and utopian socialist Postrat Carl Wilhelm Fröhlich and the graduate engineer Hans Windhoff as a designer of motorcycles with water-cooled two-stroke engines became known beyond the region. In the park in a robinia grove there are two boulders that are associated with old legends. One of them is the tombstone of Hans Windhoff.
