The Roman stadium of Patras was built between 80 and 90 AD.
It is believed that the stadium was a gift from Emperor Domitian to the city of Patras. The complex served as a venue for athletic competitions and gladiatorial games.
The ruins are located near the center of Patras, on what is now Ifaistou Street. They lie on the way to the city's medieval castle (Kastro) and are an important part of Patras' archaeological heritage. Parts of the complex have been restored in recent years.
