The ruins of the Schaaken monastery could also be in the middle of Ireland, where ruins of stone buildings are often to be found. Unfortunately, two fires belong to the rich history of the old Benedictine monastery of Schaaken. In the first in 1519 the monastery church was destroyed and then rebuilt in a different form. In 1913 lightning struck the church. After that it was not rebuilt. Today there are still remains of the entrance gate, the church and the barn.
