the Philosophenweg stretches almost 4 kilometers through the aces. As far as I am informed, the origin of the naming is not known. However, it is proven that intellectual figures from the Duchy of Braunschweig / Wolfenbüttel have withdrawn into the aces in order to go into themselves here.

In the spring a beautiful beech forest, the Philosophenweg itself is very pleasant, dry and soft. The side roads are churned and mushy.

Opinions differ on the length, but overall the Philosophenweg is probably a 5.2 km long, natural path over the Asse mountain range. It leads from the Falkenheim car park in Groß Denkte via the Festberg to the visitor car park at the Asse II mine.
The namesake were probably great minds from the Duchy of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel, who retired to the Asse to "let your soul dangle".
Easy to understand, because this ridge path is absolutely fantastic... at a time when there are few leaves with great views!
