To get to Puerto del Rey (1,132 m) we have to climb quite hard, also on a gravel road. This port was an important mountain pass during the Modern Age from the Plateau towards Andalusia.
It is located within the Despeñaperros natural park, a protected space, excavated by the Despeñaperros river. Resting after the good climb, you can enjoy the typical flora of the entire Sierra Morena, especially holm oaks, cork oaks and pines.
