The Chaligne Refuge opened in 2006 at Alpe Chaligne (1943 m), in the municipality of Gignod, along the path that goes from Buthier up to Pointe Chaligne. From the hamlet of Buthier you reach Alpe Mendey and further on you take the “3A” path on foot (travel time 1.15 h) or by MTB.

The refuge is the result of the renovation of a typical mountain hut in stone and wood. Particular attention was paid to the eco-environmental aspect and respect for the pre-existing architecture, with extensive recovery of local materials. The furnishings were made with wood derived partly from reclamation work in the area and treated with eco-friendly products.
