Seen "Komootlich" the Karlumer forest is very virgin. Although numerous forestry and riding trails run through this forest, only two small paths are located here at Komoot. The forest is relatively large, so you can run beautiful tours here.
Everything is very unspectacular here. Except forest and nature there is nothing here. But that's what makes the Karlumer Forst so valuable. A real insider tip for nature lovers. Measured by the countless high seats, it must be a game-rich area. Except for a squirrel, I did not see any game.
The Karlumer forest is not a "natural" grown forest, but was created by reforestation of the former heathland there. Already in 1885 Carl Emeis made the first reforestation. Carl Emeis was commissioned by the provincial government to handle Nordfriesland. In this context, he created the areas of Langenberger forest near Leck, Karlumer Forst and the forest at Süderlügum. Through his work, many forest areas in Schleswig-Holstein were enlarged. In Langenberger forest and in the forest near Aukrug therefore memorial stones are set up for Carl Emeis.
