The Burren - a panoramic mountain on the Filsalb

The Burren is a hilltop in the Filsalb area between the Filstal near Gingen/Fils and a side valley of the upper Filstal with the town of Unterböhringen.

The Burren is a bit exotic in this Filsalb landscape. On the one hand, it is a real mountain, a hilltop - and not just part of a plateau. On the other hand, the Burren is not forested. Rather, the mountain is occupied by a very picturesque juniper heath. This guarantees a beautiful view from the top of the Burren. The Burren is also a bit mysterious. Because from a medium distance you can't see the Burren from any direction. The summit is always hidden by forests.

The Burren is made up of White Jurassic gamma rocks. The juniper heath at the summit of the Burren is a so-called Section 32 biotope according to the State Nature Conservation Act. The 1.3 hectare juniper heath is therefore protected, even if it is not explicitly designated as a protected area.
