You'll need a 4-wheel-drive vehicle with high ground clearance to reach the trailhead of this run, off Forest Road 103. But it's worth it if you want a little-used access to popular routes near Medicine Bow Peak, or a less-crowded tie-in to the Sheep Creek Trail, with stops by Quealy Lake and the larger Reservoir Lake along the way. You can really log a lot of miles here if you want to, as long as you're ready to deal with the rough, remote conditions.
Due to the rough road access this is a summer-only trail, perhaps from July through October in a typical year.
