A gem in Köngen is undoubtedly the tithe barn from 1722.

The tithe barn was originally owned by the Denkendorf Monastery. This building was intended to provide a storage facility for the so-called “Great Tithe”, i.e. the farmers' traditional tax on the income they earned on arable land given to them by the nobility or church.

Built in 1722, the half-timbered house was bought freely in the mid-19th century. After serving as a barn and stable for local farmers for a long time, it fell into disrepair over time and was even scheduled to be demolished in 1985. After an extensive renovation by the community, the building shone again in new splendor at the end of the 1980s and is now considered a true gem of the region.

This half-timbered building now houses a well-stocked local library, a meeting place for seniors, the meeting room for the local council and a ballroom for private, commercial and cultural events of all kinds.
