The Rakotz Bridge is located in the approx. 200 ha Rhododendron Park Kromlau near Gablenz which is one of the largest parks in Saxony.
In 1842, Friedrich Herrmann Rötschke acquired the manor Kromlau and built from 1860 in almost 10 years of construction of basalt and field stones the Rakotzbrücke. In the lake basalt columns were created in groups called "organ".
