One of the most characteristic monuments of the Nuragic civilization in Gallura, in the northeastern part of Sardinia: a sacred well where water cult rituals were performed. The ancient sanctuary, dating back to between the 15th and 13th centuries BC, stands at the edge of the town of Olbia and features a structure just under eighteen meters long, constructed of granite, trachyte, and schist, cut into carefully crafted blocks. The external layout resembles a keyhole, symbolizing a gateway between the world of the living and the dead. The structure consists of a circular courtyard, a vestibule, a small room connecting the courtyard and the well, and steps leading to the well itself.
