Prince Władysław built a chapel here dedicated to St. Michael the Archangel, where services were held for the prince residing in Gołkowice and his court. However, the church's beams were so rotten that they completely fell apart and the church collapsed. So it was decided to rebuild it. The faithful of Gołkowice tried to have their church assigned an independent pastor. This is what happened, and on April 10, 1955, the current vicar from Godów - Fr. Izydor Myśliwiec. In 1981, the Skrbeńsko parish was separated from part of Gołkowice. The parish in Gołkowice was established on April 11, 1985. In the same year, construction of a new church began, the design of which was prepared by architect Michał Kuczmiński. The finished church was consecrated on November 15, 1986. Because the new church received the title of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, the current parish has a double name. In the spring of 1987, the construction of catechetical rooms began.
