The cross at the intersection of Klonowa and Kościuszki streets
Originally, there was a wooden cross at the crossroads. It was placed in the middle of the intersection, fenced with a low fence. We also do not know when this cross was made and for what purpose. In 1929, a new stone cross was built.
It was created in the Lika stonemasonry from Izbicko. There is an inscription in German on the cross: "Mein Jesus Barmherzigkeit" - My Jesus of Mercy. Initially, it stood in place of a wooden cross in the middle of the intersection.
Around 1940, during the construction of a nearby airport, a tractor carrying large hangar elements hit the cross and damaged it. The residents dismantled the cross and moved it to a neighboring property, where it lay for several years. In 1951, a request was made to re-install the cross, but the commune authorities did not agree to place it on an island in the middle of the intersection, and secondly, the German inscription was to disappear. In this situation, farmer Jerzy Giza decided to place a stone cross on his property near the wall. And the German inscription was removed. The cross was renovated a few years ago and a metal plaque with a German inscription was installed.
