A really beautiful and historic place. Just 1 km south-southwest of the Hoppernkopf summit is a former place of execution for the Kurkölner Gogericht above the source of the Schmala. It is located directly southeast of the state border in the Hessian region at 762.6 m height (instead of 800 m height according to the inscription on the memorial stone there).

We passed this historic place on the first stage of the "Rothaarsteig". It was very warm, the ascent was very strenuous and we finished our last drinks at the place of execution! Fortunately, it wasn't far to the finish in Willingen.

Former place of execution of the Kurkölnisches Gogericht on the Hoppernkopf between Bruchhausen and Willingen. It is located exactly on the border between North Rhine-Westphalia and Hesse, which corresponds here to the historical border between the Electorate of Cologne (Kurköln) and the County of Waldeck. The Rothaarsteig and the Uplandsreig also run here.

Places of execution were often off the beaten track, but unusually this place of execution was quite far away, right on what is now the state border between North Rhine-Westphalia and Hesse. A beautiful rest area has been created here, as well as a memorial stone that commemorates the place of execution. The marked access path to the Rothaarsteig to Willingen also begins here.
