This easy grade 3 walk takes you into one of the last remaining pockets of lowland rainforest in the Wet Tropics World Heritage area. It is an opportunity to experience the unique plants and animals of the rainforest.
The trail starts on an old forest road, which was used to transport timber to the sawmill in El Arish in the 1960s and 1970s, and then joins a path used by the local Aboriginal people (Djiru) on the way.
Needless to say, appropriate insect repellent, clothing and footwear are recommended for the walk.
It should be added that the place where the trail begins is located in the middle of a blind bend, contrary to the clear signs and announcements that are otherwise usual in Australia. You should therefore anticipate the turn-off and reduce your speed accordingly on the approach.
