The city of Ephesus is the ancient city from which the later Selcuk emerged. The name Ephesus probably comes from the Latin, the correct name here is Ephesus. Ephesus was one of the most important centers of the Greeks in Asia Minor. The fact that the Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, was located in Ephesos, reinforces the assumption that the city had a high significance from the Greek point of view. The biggest change to today's Selcuk is certainly the location of the city. Ephesus itself was right on the sea, while Selcuk is now 16 kilometers from the sea. This is due to earthquakes and a shoreline-extended shoreline. Even today, the ruins of Ephesus can be visited
