Next to the Santuario de la Peregrina, which was built from 1778, in the historic center of Pontevedra, in the Plaza de la Peregrina. It was declared a historical-artistic monument in 1982 and mixes late baroque with neoclassical forms, such as its main altarpiece, erected in 1789. It is one of the most symbolic and relevant buildings in the city and is dedicated to the Virgin who, according to tradition, guided pilgrims from Baiona to Santiago.

Round jewel of Spanish Baroque architecture, 1778. The pilgrimage church "Santuario de la Virgen Peregrina de Pontevedra" (sanctuary of the virgin pilgrim) is next to the Basilica of Santa Maria the most important pilgrimage church on the Way of St. James to Santiago. Dedicated to the Portuguese pilgrims who have been coming to Santiago since the 17th century and stopped here, the church was given the name 'La Peregrina'.

The church of the Pilgrim Virgin consists of a scallop-shaped chapel that is located on the Camino de Santiago Portugues. It is dedicated to the Virgin who, according to tradition, guided the pilgrims from Bayonne to Santiago.
