Collobrières is a commune in the Var department, Provence-Alpes-Côtes d'Azur, 40 km northeast of Toulon and twenty kilometers of the beaches of Lavandou and south Lalonde.

The village has about 2000 inhabitants, located in the heart of the Maures hills and forests rising to 770 m, and its vast territory, with an area of 112 km², is particularly green (forest, vineyards). It is crossed by a stream, the Real Collobrier.

Founded in the twelfth century around a medieval wall that disappeared now, the city has developed through the exploitation of the forests (sawmills, cork factories) and its cellars (lead mines, copper and iron).

Capital of the chestnut Collobrières preserve an aspect of the typical picturesque village of Provence, while opening to tourism (hiking in the mountains, near the coast, folk traditions and greedy).

Collobrières is a small, quiet but very interesting place that is definitely worth visiting. The place is crossed by the river Real Colloubrier, after which the place is named. It is a Provençal expression for a river with many vipers.

In the northern part of the village you cross the river via a 12th century stone bridge, Pont Raoul Calvi. On the other side of the bridge you will find the Chapelle Notre Dame de Pitié and the small shop Confisserie Azurienne, known for its candied chestnuts. The production of chestnut puree and candied chestnuts, called marrons glaces, is a specialty of this area. Historical machines for processing chestnuts can be viewed in the confectionery museum. The specialty of this house is, among other things, ice cream made from chestnuts. There are numerous wooden bridges in the village that lead to the cafes on the other side of the river.
