Historical: On 6 February 1943, the submarine Casabianca landed on Arone beach (9 km away) with men and weapons from Algiers (headquarters of the French Liberation Committee, CFLN) for the resistance in Corsica. They were taken to hiding places (e.g. sheep farms) and later distributed to FN groups in the country (Piana, Ota, Marignana, Petreto-Bicchisano).
