Overlooking the waters of Garda, Peschiera has a history of ancient peoples and illustrious dominations. And this is clear from the entrance to the city: fortresses, walls, defensive canals. The star-shaped fortress of Peschiera, completely surrounded by water, with its 2250 meters of walls is the largest military structure on Lake Garda. Today it is mostly overgrown with trees and bushes and partly a bit dilapidated. Its core, however, still belongs to the army, but can be visited by appointment.
