The open-air museum provides information about the way of life of the Mecklenburg rural population from the 17th century to the beginning of the 20th century. Old farmhouses, orchards full of blossoms, ancient Low German hall houses and even an old village school: the Mueß open-air museum is a window into the past and the reality of life of people in past centuries.
Within the almost 7-hectare village area directly on the southern shore of Lake Schwerin, visitors can view 17 buildings and objects furnished as museums.
In the open-air museum's extensive grounds, exhibitions, plant and craft markets, events with traditional music, Low German theater performances, fairytale puppet shows, seminars, lectures, children's parties and much more take place during the season.
