São Lourenço Park is one of the oldest in Curitiba, inaugurated in 1972 with two hundred and four thousand square meters in the neighborhood of the same name. It was created after the rupture of the Belém River dam in 1970 to contain floods and recover the area. Its central lake, surrounded by a forest of araucaria, cinnamon, and pitanga trees, shelters fauna such as guinea pigs, opossums, and birds of prey, in addition to the Paranista Memorial and the João Turin Sculpture Garden.
