Pine Creek was established in the late 1800s after a gold rush in the area. Pine Creek is the only original mining town remaining in the Top End from the gold rush era of the 1870s. The Miners park is located at the northern end of town adjacent to the Railway Precinct. It comprises a collection of machinery and items associated with mining over the years and includes winches, pumps, boilers and the like. There are also interpretive displays and information on each of the items as well as on mining history in the region.
