In the stretch of Cassaro closest to the sea, practically opposite the Ccatena church, is the church of San Giovanni Battista la Nazione Napoletana, better known by the simpler name of San Giovanni dei Napoletani.
As the name itself suggests, this place of worship was entrusted to the so-called "Napolitan Nation", i.e. the guild of merchants coming mainly from Cava de' Tirreni and other places in Campania, who had settled in Palermo to conduct their business.
