As early as the beginning of June 1632, roaming troops of imperial mercenaries attacked the area around Bayreuth and plundered Emtmannsberg. A handover of Wunsiedel to the commander of Kemnath, Colonel von Schaumberg, could only be prevented by the hastily assembled committee companies from Hof, Münchberg and Weißenstadt. But in Eger, where handover negotiations to the Holk troops had already taken place on June 10, 1632, disaster was brewing that would demand unforeseen victims in the eastern Margraviate of Bayreuth and in particular in the Sechsämterland. The start of the dance of death that raged for years was the memorable meeting at the Schirndinger Pass, the important entrance into the Margraviate from Bohemia. For centuries, this bloody meeting at the Schirndinger Pass remained in the memory of the six-office residents.
