Artists Paint Pots are a collection of over 50 springs, geysers, vents, and vibrant mud pots, making it the most popular feature in the generally less active Gibbon Geyser Basin. Visitors access the trailhead via a small side road that leads to a large parking area, which often fills up during busy summer days. The boardwalk path meanders across bushy flats to a loop around the hot pools at the base of Paintpot Hill. Along the trail, hikers encounter simmering milky-blue pools with edges of reddish sulfur deposits and a creamy-brown mud pot. The trail offers great views of the Gibbon River Valley and beyond, leading to two pools, Blood Geyser and Flash Spring, known for their constant bubbling and occasional eruptions.
