Very nice place in the center of Hoorn. Buildings like “De Waag” and the “Westfries Museum” characterize the historic square ambience. You will find a lot of gastronomy here and (except in 2020) you can visit the (tourist) cheese market every week.
The name goes back to the red stone that is embedded in the pavement. In previous years convicts were executed here.
