A grown rock was inaugurated as a knight's stone in 1985.
The name comes from "strong fountain". The bright silver spring rises at the foot of the Sengelsberg and the clear water flows on a short path through the Starkenbrunner Wiesental into the Rodalb.
Around 1700 the charcoal burner hut of the woodcutter Jakob Junker stood by the source.
The silver-white "silver sand" that the brook carries with it was previously used by the Pirmasens as sand for their living room floors and for cleaning knives and cutlery.

The Ritterstein is located opposite the Starkenbrunnen forest house in the PWV local group of Pirmasens Starkenbrunnen. This knight stone lies above the source. As a rule, the name of all the knight stones is chiselled and highlighted with a bright yellow color, but here the name and the PWV abbreviation of the sandstone boulder is on a metal plate - a special feature among the knight stones. The source had dried up on all my hikes to the Starkenbrunnen.

To the left of the Starkenbrunnen there is a memorial for the fallen members of the PWV.
To the right above the Starkenbrunnen there is one of the more than 300 knight stones of the Palatinate Forest Association as a name stone for this fountain.
