If you want to avoid the busy state road from Moggio to Carnia you can follow this beautiful road on the opposite side of the valley. You go along the Via delle Ex Caditoie, a completely paved road, also recently, very enjoyable and with several tunnels. You may even take advantage of taking a dip in some areas. The only flaw: once finished, to return to the Alpe Adria cycle path you have to cross the bridge over the Fella, narrow and busy (it was once a cycle path, but after the closure of the other bridge it was opened to traffic). Even if it's only a few hundred meters, be careful. Otherwise, super recommended.
