The Nolaya Bridge, located in Ciudad Real, has an interesting history. In 1809, during the Spanish War of Independence, a decisive battle took place near the Nolaya Bridge.
Spanish troops faced Napoleonic forces at this strategic point on the Guadiana River. The French cavalry attempted to cross the river from Peralbillo, but were repelled by the Spanish cavalry at the Nolaya Bridge.
The rain and cold added difficulty to the fight.
The battle was crucial for the defense of Ciudad Real.
The Nolaya Bridge is a silent witness to history and the bravery of those who fought at that time. 🏰🗡️🌊
Today, due to the recent rains, as can be seen in the photos, it is completely covered.
