Pine Canyon Trail is a chance for hikers to get more of a backcountry experience. This trail is a great place for viewing wildlife. Black bears are seen often on this trail.
The trail leads through a woodland canyon with dense forests of oaks, maples, junipers, and Arizona pine. The trail begins in grassland and climbs for about two miles into Pine Canyon. The last half mile of this trail is a steep climb to a cliff. In the rainy season, the pour-off at the end of the trail can become a temporary waterfall.
