little info from the internet:
Hoya East flood protection
THE PLAN OF THE TOWN OF HOYA HAS BEEN DETERMINED
The town of Hoya is particularly affected by flood events due to its location on the Weser. While flood protection has been ensured on the western side of the Weser for years, this has so far been lacking on the eastern side of the Weser. The plan for the city of Hoya was approved by the NLWKN for the measures required there.
A residential area of the old town center in the Bakelberg area needs to be protected. A partially mobile flood protection wall is planned there, particularly in the interest of the property owners. The solid part of the wall corresponds to the water level at the design flood. The mobile part is used for additional security.
In the other areas of Hoya-Ost to be protected, the plan envisages dams and the shared use of a railway embankment, dike gaps and sheet pile walls as flood protection measures. In addition to the old city center with other settlement areas, the commercial and industrial areas located here also had to be included in the protective measures.
With the implementation of the measures, the city of Hoya as a whole is protected against flooding on the Weser, which statistically occurs once every hundred years.
