The area of the fort is two at the foot of a ridge (Adelegg) between Kleinhaslach and Burkwang.
The Bed Wall is the green hill which is the west side of the Castle Plateau.
The camp stood on a twelve meter high, 60-80 m long, 40-45 m wide, at the top of a spur-like moraine terrace above the floodplain of the Lower Argen, which was heavily marshy in antiquity. From here there was a good view of the surrounding hill country to the north and west and of a nearby ford across the river. The eastern and northern slopes drop off very steeply. In Roman times, the river bed may have passed close to the plateau. The resulting impact slope in the east offered natural protection, while the west and south sides were secured from attackers by a ditch

In the 3rd and 4th centuries, the north of the Roman Empire was threatened by raids by Germanic tribes. The inhabitants hid their belongings with the aim of recovering them. This was often not possible, as in the case of the treasure trove from the Vemania fort near Isny, which was brought to safety in 305 AD. The fort was destroyed in a raid by Germanic tribes in the same year.

The treasure trove includes 157 coins that were originally kept in a linen bag. Among other things, a wooden box contained rich women's jewelry such as gold necklaces, bracelets, earrings and rings. Due to their value, the former owners of the items are most likely a high-ranking officer or the commander of the camp and his wife.

The treasure trove is on display in the "Legendary Masterpieces" exhibition collection in the Old Castle.
