The mountain hut, 1450 m high, offers itself as the first base for a Fagaraskamm crossing. Ioanna speaks excellent German and lovingly runs the hut. I cannot recommend enough Cabana Suru. Good food, lovely people.
A few useful info:
- there are several rooms with 7+ beds
- running water and toilets available inside
- shower available for a fee
- weak GSM signal in the area, it depends on your carrier
- make sure you have cash on you
