Protestant Church (1769) + Old School (1818) - Rodgau/Dudenhofen. 🚴‍♂️

The late Baroque Protestant parish church was built in 1769 with exposed sandstone masonry and was only plastered in 1969 during a major renovation. The rectangular hall building with chamfered corners and pilaster strips is preceded by a square tower on its southeastern narrow side, which extends upwards into a slated octagon and topped with a domed lantern. The tower houses the church portal with two lions holding the Hanau coat of arms. The transverse interior features a curved, three-sided gallery, and opposite it on the southwestern long side is the altar with a pulpit above it, featuring an organ built in 1827.

The building, known as the "Rector-Geißler-Haus," is Dudenhofen's first schoolhouse, built in 1818, at that time with a teacher's apartment and mayor's office. The half-timbered building with a flat hipped roof and an unusually high ground floor due to the schoolroom stands free in front of the Protestant parish church. The south and west walls are clad in slate. The building was used as a schoolhouse until 1908, and after being vacant and serving as a local library, it served as a registry office since 2002.

The fountain in front of the Rektor-Geisler-Haus is decorated by the fourth graders of the local elementary school with colorful, self-designed eggs. A very nice tradition and a great motif for family pictures after the Easter service in a very committed young church community.

The church itself has a simple architectural style that is typical of the Protestant buildings in the region ...

At Christmas time, the inside of the church is decorated with lights by the confirmands to drive away the darkness and gloom. Really great ambience and well worth a visit.
