The Town Hall is located on the central square (Republic Square of Croatia), the former Plathei communis. This is a particularly harmonious and spacious building of the Renaissance, raised between 1533 - 1536.

The ground floor comprises the atrium, with semicircular arches leaning against the pillars, from where they entered the former offices of the local authority. Upstairs is a prestigious hall where the city council gathered.

In December 1943, on the occasion of the Allied air raid, the town hall was completely destroyed and was restored after the war in its original form and appearance. The interior was spaciously organized and equipped in accordance with the needs of the new function.
