North of the square are the New Munich Trade Fair Center, the tower of the former Munich Riem Airport, the convention center and commercial areas, south of the square the residential quarters of the district.

The Hotel Novotel München Messe and the access to the Riem-Arcaden are right on the square. In the immediate vicinity at the Square of Human Rights there is a cultural center, a retirement and service center and the parish of St. Florian with its white church tower. Willy-Brandt-Platz also provides access to the Messestadt West underground station. There is also a large fountain next to the entrance.
