I recommend you starting this as a continuation of the Le Niole path. Le Niole had some landslide damage and missing road where climbing through fallen trees was not the only option, but it was still the best in 02/2020. The Mare's connection to the Casse Dent path is barely maintained. The climb from the coast starting at the end of Danzilles Road along the River Danzil valley is doable but very steep - with fallen trees, path washed down, GPS not reliable due to immense foliage cover. Good orientation and relying on instict is mandatory. Climbed through dozens of fallen tree-bridges to make my way here in 02/2020. If you like dangerous wilderness, checking out lots of palm spiders, skinks, snakes and feeling lost, give it a try.
