The Church of St. Michael or San Michele was built in 1855 by Monsignor Medelin on the remains of an old monastery. The monastery was probably built between the 7th and 8th centuries and was first commissioned by Pope Alexander III. mentioned. Passing through Bale in 1177, the Pope granted some indulgences. Legend has it that the monastery was the place where Blessed Julian, the patron saint of Bale, died between 1328 and 1367. A document from 1418 confirms the activity of the monastery, after which it was finally abandoned by the Franciscans. The church and monastery were built on the site of a prehistoric Bronze Age settlement.
