INTEREST AND EQUITY VALUE
This geozone constitutes a representative section of the boundary between the Serralada
Prelittoral and the Ebro Basin, of high geological value on the slopes of the
tectonics, sedimentology and geomorphology, and which, located in the
proximity to teaching and research centers, has a high didactic potential.
Sant Miquel del Fai represents a singular and emblematic place in geography

pedagogical purposes for the University of Barcelona for about forty years

protect the key outcrops of this structure. It is the fundamental structure of the
Catalan Prelittoral Range. It involves materials from the Hercynian basement (granitoids) and
the Mesozoic cover (Triassic), as well as the edge of the Ebro basin (lower PaleogeneEocene).
