There are some places on the old harbor basin where two and four-legged friends can cool off.
My guess is that the port dates from the time when large gravel and sand pits were active in this area. Because whole shiploads were then transported through the canal e.g. promoted to Hamburg.
Unfortunately, nothing can be found on the Internet 🙁

The hiking trail runs along both sides of the former harbor bay and offers beautiful views. The street that leads here is called Hafenstraße.
You can no longer see a harbor here, but you can only imagine what it used to look like here.
When the long-destroyed air force fuel depot still existed nearby,
the harbor on the Elbe-Lübeck Canal was certainly more important;
the proximity to the railway line also makes it ideal for a harbor facility.
