St. Nicholas Church in Viru-Nigula is an evangelical church in Viru-Nigula. The church is dedicated to Saint Nicholas, the patron saint of seafarers.
Viru-Nigula Church is the oldest stone church in Virumaa. The current church was completed in 1755 and stands on the site of a church built in the second half of the 13th century that was destroyed in 1658 during the Russo-Swedish War. The congregation bought the land for the new parish with money collected through a collection, which meant the church had no patron - a unique case in Northern Estonia.
The church tower (restored in 1988-1989) and the roofs were damaged during the Second World War.
In 1998 the church was included in the National Register of Cultural Monuments.
In the fall of 2010, the stained-glass window "The Ascension of Christ" created by Andrei Lobanov was dedicated in the church (Wikipedia).
