Castle with moat (not open) and estate located right next to the village. Nice walking area to stroll through the woods and meadows.
The castle dates back to at least the 12th century. The most famous resident was undoubtedly Joan Derk van der Capellen. Here he wrote his famous appeal to the people of the Netherlands: the Democratic Manifesto. He championed freedom of expression, open government and the integrity of civil servants and political authorities. In doing so, he has played an important role in the current democratic model.
There is a parking lot from where you can start the walk or as a starting point for a bike ride.
There are various catering establishments in the area, such as the pancake restaurant and the tea garden (with attractive B&B).
