The lovingly restored Ribbeck Castle on Ribbeck in the Havelland region, with its pear tree made famous by Theodor Fontane, as well as the old Ribbeck Church, the rectory garden, and the Old School—who hasn't seen them? Hans Georg Henning von Ribbeck built the castle in 1893 in neo-Baroque style. The castle's extraordinary ambiance creates a dignified setting for an unforgettable wedding. Upon request, the bride and groom can arrive in a wedding carriage right up to the castle entrance. The wedding room on the first floor accommodates approximately 60 guests.

Since 2009, Ribbeck Castle, which was built in the neo-baroque style as an extension of the "double-roof house" from Theodor Fontane's famous ballad, has been shining again in its original splendor above the picturesque village ensemble of the former estate.

Even if it is not clearly documented, hardly anyone will doubt that it was the appearance of von Ribbeck's mansion and its surroundings that made the great local poet take up the traditional myth of the blessing-giving hand and thus one of his most popular literary works that made Ribbeck's name known around the world.

Inhabited by ancestors of the von Ribbeck family until 1943, since then multiple changes of ownership, structural transformations and decades of use as a retirement home have made the proud building a shadow of its own. After the free move in 2004, the district of Havelland first tried to have the house returned to private ownership.

However, no investor was found who would have been willing to restore this important gem of German cultural history and then make it accessible to the public, at least in part. In November 2005, in order to avert final decay, the members of the district council decided to use public funds to renovate the castle and develop it as a tourist center.

The castle offers today's visitor a restaurant with fine cuisine that offers regional delicacies and imaginative creations for enjoyable refreshment. The museum provides insights into the history of the house and the region, a journey through time into the world of Theodor Fontane and occasionally inspiring encounters with works of contemporary art. On the first floor of the castle there is a branch of the registry office of the city of Nauen with a representative wedding room for about 60 guests.
