This section of trail is normally only used by people thru hiking the Art Loeb Trail and people looking for the shortest way to get to the Silvermine Bald overlook. Even with less use than some of the other trails in the area, this trail is often washed-out, rooty, and rocky. It is a steep climb from the parking area on the Blue Ridge Parkway to the trail intersection with the Mountains-to-Sea Trail.
