The view of the Steyregg Bridge and the voestalpine steelworks is one of Linz's most iconic sights. The bridge spans the Danube east of the city center, connecting Linz with the neighboring town of Steyregg. From here, an impressive panorama unfolds across the sprawling industrial area of voestalpine, one of Europe's largest and most modern steelworks. The massive blast furnaces, chimneys, and conveyor systems are particularly striking, dominating the cityscape and appearing atmospherically illuminated at night.

The Danube Cycle Path and the riverbanks on the Steyregg side offer popular spots to enjoy or photograph this industrial panorama, as do higher vantage points like Pfenningberg, which provides a sweeping view of the bridge, the Danube, and the steelworks. This vista impressively combines technology, architecture, and landscape, symbolizing the industrial heart of Linz.

One of the important Danube crossings with cycle paths on both sides next to the car lanes and therefore a good option for a cycle circuit that connects Linz and Steyregg or other nearby destinations. The bridge was opened in 1979 and connects the neighboring community of Steyregg with Linz and is located directly upstream of the Steyregg railway bridge. It is a car bridge with two lanes in each direction and allows traffic coming from the direction of Perg to cross to Linz without taking a detour.

If you want to get directly to the center of Linz, the Steyregger Bridge is a good “shortcut”. The route runs through industry, but if that doesn't bother you, it's a good option.
