    The Iberian town of Turó Rodó is located on a peninsular promontory 40 meters high, located to the north-east of the town of Lloret de Mar. The hill is located on a small peninsula that extends into the sea as far as the tip of Calafats, to the south, and is joined to the mainland by a small isthmus about 100 meters wide on the north side. The eastern and southern sides rise directly over the sea, with Sa Caleta beach to the west. This situation makes it a strategic place, both because of the wide visual panorama it allows to see, and because it is a place that can be easily defended. In addition, the beach of Sa Caleta served as a refuge for boats, a very important aspect for these fishing communities.

      The most likely date of foundation of the Iberian town of Turó Rodó is around 200 BC, already in full Romanization, when the territory was pacified and other settlements, such as that of Puig de Castellet, were being depopulated. One of the possible hypotheses, in relation to its foundation, is that it was created by individuals coming from Puig de Castellet in search of an area with better communication and closer to the sea (which is a great source of food) . By 60 BC, the Romanization process had completely pacified the area and it no longer made sense to live in remote and fortified settlements. The fortified towns, such as Turó Rodó, were abandoned and new population centers were created closer to the agricultural fields, the beaches and the communication routes.
