Located at the mouth of the Mire, the fishing port of Vila Nova de Milfontes is one of the jewels that rest on the Portuguese coast. Between its white houses, small alleys shelter a lively life, punctuated by the sound of the ocean.
Popular with tourists, the city welcomes many surfers who come to catch the swell and hikers who survey the Trilho dos Pescadores. Consider visiting the Fort of São Clemente or the Church of Nossa Senhora da Graça.

Milfontes is considered an insider tip among travelers to Portugal, especially in spring. Flowers bloom everywhere and there is a wide range of beautiful beaches to choose from. An ivy-covered fortress sits on the banks of the Rio Mira. The Ocean Drive Beach Club on Furnas Beach is a must-experience. Half of this beach is by the sea and the other part by the river. It has already been included in the list of “miracle beaches” in Portugal.
